‘DWTS’ Chooses Team Ariana Madix After “Scandoval”, Reality Star Set to Compete on The Show

It’s official! The first Dancing With the Stars contestant of Season 32 is Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix. This confirmation comes after the reality TV star was seen in West Hollywood with DWTS judge Derek Hough.
On July 7, DWTS judge Hough announced the first celebrity contestant on Good Morning America. If you missed it, Madix rose to fame as part of Vanderpump Rules, but made national headlines during Tom Sandoval’s cheating scandal.
Ariana Madix Joins The 2023 Cast of Dancing With The Stars
During the Good Morning America announcement, Hough is seen with Madix at her sandwich shop, Something About Her. Before Madix even came on the screen, it was extremely obvious the announcement was going to be her – Bravo fans know their VPR locations.
“This season on Dancing with the Stars, we are going absolutely mad — mad for Madix!” Hough said. “Say goodbye to the drama and hello to the dance floor!”
Soon after GMA’s announcement, came Hough and Madix’s joint announcement on Instagram. Within the painfully scripted video, the two are at Something About Her, talking about dance themed sandwich options.
“What a coinciDance bumping into our newest celebrity for @dancingwiththestars,” Hough wrote. “Who’s ready to watch @arianamadix hit the iconic Ballroom floor this Fall? Watch Live! On @abcnetwork @disneyplus and the following day on @hulu”
At this time, Madix is the first star to be confirmed for Season 32 of Dancing With The Stars. This season’s full cast will be announced on Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 13.
Why It’s Iconic That Madix’s Involvement Announcement Took Place at Something About Her
For those who may not know, Madix owns her sandwich stop, Something About Her with fellow VPR star Katie Maloney. The best friends and business partners were both formerly romantically involved with Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz respectively. Their former romantic partners currently own a Hollywood bar named Schwartz and Sandy’s.
At the time of Something About Her’s creation, Maloney was opening up to Madix about her desire to open up a business with her partner at the time, Schwartz. To Maloney’s surprise, Madix was willing to open a business with her, as long as it wasn’t a bar.
“I want to start early, finish early have a place that’s like really beautiful that fits my aesthetic and not be dealing with sticky alcohol like stinky people puking,” Madix said on VPR.
From there, Something About Her was created. Something About Her is set to fully open in September 2023. During Sandoval’s recent cheating scandal, the unopened restaurant decided to sell merchandise. Without even opening their doors, the owners have earned around $200,000 from selling merchandise alone.

Dancing With The Stars is surely an amazing opportunity for not only Madix, but also for Something About Her. The dance competition show will be live simultaneously on ABC and Disney+ beginning this September. This confirmation is truly only the beginning, and we cannot wait to see what else comes out about the upcoming DWTS season.
