Does Tyra Banks Need a Co-Host on ‘Dancing With The Stars’?
Reading Time: 3 minutes
It is no secret that fans of Dancing With The Stars are not too fond of host Tyra Banks. Season 30 was riddled with backlash against Banks. The former supermodel replaced Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews for Season 29 of the dance show. She also became an executive producer. Fans hated that Banks used Dancing With The Stars as her personal runway as well as her wardrobe. When Banks would make a mistake during the live show fans stormed Twitter calling for her firing.
The Season 30 finale of Dancing With The Stars brought in close to 6 million viewers. With Banks as host and executive producer for Season 29 and Season 30, the show saw a dip in the ratings both years. Although ABC has yet to confirm next season, it is a sure bet that the dance competition show will be back. Months from now the rumor mill of casting will begin.
Perhaps there is too much pressure on Banks and she needs another host by her side. Someone she can have banter with and can help bring in more viewers with their celebrity and charm.
Here are some contenders we think would be the perfect fit to host alongside the catwalk diva:
RuPaul
Yes the queen of drag is busy with Rupaul’s Drag Race, but if Ryan Seacrest can have multiple jobs, so can Rupaul. The entertainer has been in the entertainment industry for nearly 3 decades. Ru is also great friends with Tyra Banks and can match her fierceness. The Emmy award winner is not only funny, but the television academy loves her. Rupaul can help bring Dancing With The Stars back to their glory days when they were nominated for awards year after year.
Joel McHale
The actor is already familiar with talking to an audience through a T.V. His work on The Soup showed the comedian’s ability to be energetic while commentating on popular clips. McHale will offer much needed laughs during the high pressure competition. He will even have great banter with the judges, especially Len Goodman. The Community star has been in the limelight on competition shows as of late. He frequently serves as a guest judge on The Masked Singer and I Can See Your Voice.
Tom Bergeron
America loves nostalgia, and what is more nostalgic for Dancing With The Stars than its original host Tom Bergeron. After being let go before Season 29 Bergeron admitted that producers were looking to freshen up the show. With the ratings dipping, maybe producers need to admit that Bergeron was an essential part of Dancing With The Stars. The extravaganza they were hoping for needs to be balanced out by what Bergeron brings. During his run on the show Bergeron was nominated at the Emmys for Outstanding Host since the show started. He won in 2012.
Leah Remini
If fans are tired of the glitz and glamour that Banks brings, they will love the energy that Leah Remini brings to everything that she does. The actress is down to earth and funny. Her Brooklyn style demeanor will surely balance out the season of Dancing With The Stars. Remini also competed on the show in Season 17 and came in 5th place. Having someone who was a contestant can be beneficial for the show. Remini also has experience hosting the competition show. She temporarily filled in for Erin Andrews during Season 19 and 21. Remini’s relationship continued when she guest judged on the show in Season 28. Let us not forget having Remini as a co-host will bring nonstop girl power.
Mario Lopez
The Saved By The Bell actor is a 90’s pop icon. Lopez has kept his career going with other acting roles as well as hosting gigs. The entertainer is known for his charm and hosting capabilities. He has hosted the entertainment news show Extra and he hosted another dance competition show, America’s Best Dance Crew. Lopez competed on Season 3 of Dancing With The Stars and can engage with contestants after their performance before they receive their scores.
DWTS just needs a new host altogether.
Tyra have to go back BEHIND the cameras or to cont modeling; that’s her best. She’s no good as host of DWTS . TOM Bergen was the best.
