The Voice Australia coach Rita Ora may have gotten secretly married to her boyfriend, director Taika Waititi, according to recent reports. Their alleged engagement was first reported in June, although the couple hasn’t confirmed anything.

Did Rita Ora, Taika Waititi Get Married?

In June, it was reported that Ora and Waititi had mutually decided to get married, and that the wedding would take place this summer. The couple went official with their relationship in August 2021 after months of dating rumors.

As a source told The Sun, “This isn’t about them doing a big showy thing and crowing about it beforehand. It’s just about them being in love and deciding the time is right to formalise their relationship.”

Ora’s sister recently posted a photo of Waititi wearing what looks like a wedding band. This photo immediately sparked rumors that the couple had secretly wed. On Monday, The Sun reported that the couple had gotten married in London, and that Ora would be changing her last name to Waititi-Ora.

A source called it “a really intimate ceremony,” adding, “Despite living in the spotlight, Rita is determined to keep the relationship as private as possible and didn’t want to make a big song and dance about the wedding.”

The Couple First Met Years Ago

Ora and Waititi may have only gone public with their relationship last year, but they’ve known each other much longer. For Valentine’s Day this year, Ora posted several photos of them together, captioning the post, “Us. 4 years ago. To now.”

Waititi was previously married to Chelsea Winstanley from 2011 to 2018. They have two daughters together, Te Hinekāhu and Matewa Kiritapu. Ora was previously in a relationship with musician Andrew Watt.

Waititi is a New Zealand filmmaker who recently directed Thor: Love and Thunder and won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film Jojo Rabbit. He’s also an actor, having recently appeared in the HBO Max series Our Flag Means Death.
