Dancing with the Stars couple Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough are expecting a baby together, and they’ve been posting about their journey to parenthood on social media. This week, they tried to predict their baby’s gender using old wives’ tales in a cute video.

The new video features Erbert standing in front of the camera wearing a yellow dress that shows off her growing baby bump. She steps to one side or the other to answer questions about her pregnancy experience which supposedly predict whether she’s expecting a boy or a girl.

For example, Erbert answers that she hasn’t experienced morning sickness, craves savory snacks, and hasn’t had mood swings or acne — all of which are associated with carrying a boy. Other details, such as carrying low and the fetus having a lower heart rate, also point to her potentially having a boy.

Although most of her answers lean on the boy side of things, there are a couple that were connected with having a girl — including weight gain and bump size. In a funny moment, Hough appears for a question about the partner’s weight gain. At first, he moves over to the “yes” side (suggesting a girl), but then he lifts up his shirt to show off his abs, moving to the other side.

Derek Hough Shares Music for His Baby

Hough and Erbert, who tied the knot in 2023, announced that they’re expecting back in July. Over the weekend, Hough shared a medley of Switchfoot songs he recorded, explaining how his experience of the music has changed since finding out he’s going to be a father.

The dancer posted footage from a music video he never got to finish, in which he sings “Dare You to Move,” “This Is Your Life,” and “Meant to Live” while walking through a sunlit field.

“I originally recorded this just for myself, kind of like a personal conversation in music form,” Hough wrote. “Turning 40, just reflecting. Over time, these lyrics have shifted in meaning for me, they went from being words I used to ask myself to something I now imagine singing to my future child.”
