Details About Carrie Underwood’s First-Ever Christmas Album ‘My Gift’ [VIDEO]

Carrie Underwood cannot contain her joy as she just announced her first-ever Christmas album. The American Idol winner has always had quite a niche for Christmas music and finally decided it was time to give the fans what they have been waiting for. Check out the video announcement Carrie made to promote “My Gift.”
‘American Idol’ Winner Carrie Underwood Announces ‘My Gift’
Carrie spoke about what led her to decide to do this Christmas album right now. “This year it was just kind of on my heart to do this Christmas album. I just felt this was such a fitting time, kind of feel like it’s a more perfect time than ever to record an album like this. I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album,” she said in the video. “I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection.” The album was recorded after her Cry Pretty tour ended in 2019 but the coronavirus pandemic did throw a wrench into these plans. She and producer Greg Wells had to finish working on the album remotely via Zoom.

Naming the album was the next step for Carrie who took inspiration from one of her favorite Christmas songs, “Little Drummer Boy.” She loves the sentiment behind it and how it reminds her of her five-year-old son Isaiah. To her, the meaning behind the song is that the little boy has been given the gift of drumming, much like her gift of music and singing. “For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times,” she said.
Carrie’s Fans Are Excited And Already In The Christmas Spirit
Carrie has been a pioneer of country music and acquired a huge fanbase since her American Idol days. Her fans absolutely cannot wait to hear “My Gift” and have been waiting for this moment for years. “I’m so excited for this !! Two of my favorite things, @carrieunderwood & Christmas. Ahh can’t wait!!” wrote one fan on Twitter. “Can’t wait for this! Been waiting for Carrie to do a Christmas album for so long! So excited!” said another and I think we can all relate. “Christmas starts early this year!! Looks like @carrieunderwood Christmas album will playing in September to get the house ready for Christmas! #CarrieUnderwood#mygift” said another fan.

“My Gift” is out on September 25, but if you need something to put you in the holiday spirit in the meantime, Carrie has plenty of Christmas songs out now. It will definitely make it feel like Christmas in July.
