Derek, Julianne Hough Mourn the Loss of Their Beloved Grandmother

Siblings Derek and Julianne Hough are mourning the loss of their grandmother Beth Romaine Heaton, who passed away on Easter Sunday at 95 years old. The dancers took to social media to share tributes to their beloved relative.


Derek, Julianne Hough Mourn Grandmother’s Loss

On Sunday, Derek took to Instagram to share a series of photos with his grandmother, writing in the caption that losing her “feels like losing a part of our family’s soul.” He praised her penchant for storytelling, writing, “Her love was the kind that made you feel seen, heard, and valued, no matter what.”

“Grandma, you’ve given us so much to remember, to cherish, and to pass on,” Derek continued. “We miss you terribly, but we’re grateful for every second we got to spend with you. So long… for now you little stinker. You’ll always be in our hearts, making us smile. We love you.”

According to Hello!, Julianne also posted her own tribute to Heaton on Instagram stories, sharing clips that showed her grandmother’s playfulness and calling her “such a ham.” Julianne added, “You get to be with grandpa now…and ALWAYS, Happy Day!”

The Siblings’ Mother Also Shared a Tribute

Derek and Julianne’s mother, Marriann Hough, also shared a tribute to Heaton, her mother. She posted a video of the two of them laughing together, writing in the caption, “Waking up this morning my heart is tender and I’m already missing this precious face, darling storytelling valiant warrior woman…”

“I’m so grateful and blessed to have such a wonderful mother and father,” Marriann wrote. “I will always continue to talk to you and dad on our morning walks…. now I have a mother and father to always be with me, to call upon and ask for guidance and love… so long for now, sweet Angel mother never goodbyes…”


The siblings’ grandfather, Don Oliver Heaton, passed away a little over a year ago. At the time, Julianne posted several photos of the family gathered together at the funeral. She thanked her grandfather “for instilling your work ethic, passing on your ballroom dancing genes and of course your family values.”
