Derek Hough recently announced rescheduled dates for his Symphony of Dance Tour, which had to be postponed in December due to his wife Hayley Erbert’s sudden health issues. In a new interview, Hough opened up about his decision to get back to dancing.
Derek Hough Talks About Tour, Hayley Erbert’s Recovery
“I’m gonna be completely honest with you. About two months ago, I honestly didn’t know when dancing was gonna be in my world again,” Hough told Good Morning America. “It’s been a time of just uncertainty, and fear, and a lot of emotions. But at the same time, it’s been also a time of just absolute gratitude.”
Erbert won’t be performing on the upcoming tour dates, but Hough emphasized that her “DNA is all over this show,” adding, “She’s there with me every step of the way.” In an update video last month, Erbert said she was making “so much progress.”
Hough shared that he wants the audience to know that “we’re gonna have a good time.” By returning to the tour in April, he also wants to remind fans “that things do get better.”
Although Erbert is still recovering and won’t be joining Hough on his tour, the pair is back to dancing together. In a recent video posted on social media, Erbert shared their Valentine’s Day adventure, which included dancing in the park.
“We’ll dance together in the park, or in the kitchen, or wherever we are,” Hough told GMA. “In the grocery store. You’ll see a little couple dancing in the aisle — it’ll be us.”
Hough added that at some point, he hopes to dance with Erbert on stage to their wedding song. He shared that his Symphony of Dance Tour is a way of saying thanks to the fans who have been supporting him and Erbert.
