Derek Hough Directs Michael Bublé’s ‘Higher’ Music Video
The “Higher” video finds Bublé in an empty theater. He dances one-on-one with Erbert, but he’s also surrounded by even more dancers, all wearing red dresses. It’s a striking visual, and the dancers move in sync with each other to some unique choreography.
The video has an amazing energy to it, and Bublé is a fantastic dancer. The theater stage, which is decorated with a large chandelier, makes for cool setting. Bublé and the dancers also move into the seats and on the stairs. Not to mention, it’s an incredibly catchy song.
In addition to directing the video, Hough also choreographed it in collaboration with Chase Bowman, Phillip Chbeeb, and Makenzie Dustman, with Connor Gormley credited as Assistant Choreographer. The choreography features some classic ballroom moves mixed with more contemporary styles.
Hough Shares Behind-the-Scenes Footage on Instagram
Hough has been hyping up the video on his social media and posting some behind-the-scenes footage. He shared a video comparing Bublé and Erbert’s rehearsal with their final performance. In another rehearsal post, Hough wrote that Bublé had never danced before this.
The former DWTS pro dancer shared that his “jaw hit the floor” when he first heard “Higher.” He also seems to have gotten along well with Bublé, as he added the hashtag #TheBromanceIsReal to one of his posts.
Hough’s sister and fellow DWTS alum Julianne responded to Hough’s post by writing, “Damn right you directed the crap out of this video! Can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
To make things even cooler, the music video was launched from outer space. Bublé’s new album, also titled Higher, is out now.
