Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams is rumored to be leaving the show after 10 years, and there’s already a reported favorite to replace him on the panel. Walliams recently made headlines for derogatory comments he made about BGT contestants.

David Walliams Rumored to Be Replaced on BGT

It was recently reported that Walliams plans to leave the BGT judging panel after 10 years on the series, with The Sun quoting a source as saying, “He hasn’t taken the decision lightly, but it just feels like time to move on and focus on his other projects.”

His departure has not been made official, as a spokesperson for BGT reportedly said Walliams’ return was “very much up in the air at the moment.” A spokesperson also told The Mirror, “The judging panel for 2023 will be announced in due course.”

That hasn’t stopped the speculation about who might replace Walliams on the panel if he decides to leave the show. The Mirror reports that according to sports betting community OLBG, the favorite to take Walliams’ seat is comedian and current The Masked Singer UK judge Mo Gilligan.

Other possible replacements reportedly include comedian and Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, as well as current The Masked Singer UK host Joel Dommett.

Walliams Apologized for His Disrespectful Comments

In November, comments Walliams made to his fellow BGT judges while filming the show in 2020 resurfaced. They included sexually explicit remarks about a female contestant. Walliams also reportedly called an elderly contestant a “c*nt” three times.

Walliams apologized for the controversial remarks, adding, “These were private conversations and like most conversations with friends, were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Over the weekend, Walliams appeared on the judging panel of BGT: The Ultimate Magician, which was filmed before the controversy. Last month, the judge pulled out of a scheduled children’s charity appearance due to “scheduling conflicts.”
