Popular YouTuber David Dobrik has come under fire recently as Seth Francois accused him of sexual assault. Seth, who was previously a member of David’s Vlog Squad, opened up about the allegations stemming from a 2017 prank video. This prompted a video response from Vlog Squad member Scotty Sire.
David Dobrik Accused Of Sexual Assault By Ex Vlog Squad Member
The video that Seth claims the sexual assault happened in is called “HE THOUGHT HE WAS KISSING HER!! (SUPER CRINGEY).” In the video, David tells Seth to prepare to be kissed by model Corinna Kopf while she wears an old man costume. Instead, David made YouTuber Jason Nash wear the mask and costume and kiss Seth.
Seth’s shocked reaction to finding out he actually kissed Jason was caught on camera. “I honestly didn’t realize how much that situation affected me until the beginning of last year when COVID happened,” Seth told BuzzFeed. “I remember sitting in my room in Atlanta and I was thinking to myself, That video was wrong. I just felt like that shouldn’t have happened to me.”
Seth ended up leaving the Vlog Squad in 2019. He spoke on the H3 podcast about how he never gave his consent to kiss Jason. After the video, Seth ended up calling a sexual assault hotline. He said he had a later conversation with David and Jason about the video but they offered him money instead of taking the video down.
“Allegations are when there’s a lack of proof, but in my case it’s blatant. The point of the video is to sexually assault me,” he said. “That’s the whole premise. I told [Dobrik] how I felt about it three years later after [he] monetized it.”
Has David Responded To The Claims?
Scotty posted a video on YouTube to address the claims against David and the Vlog Squad. “Seth accused David and Jason of sexual assault for a kissing prank that was done in 2017, which is so f**ked up because he was part of the videos, he knows what we do, and then David asked him,” Scotty said.
In the same video, a clip plays of David scrolling through his text message conversation with Seth from a few years ago. A voice note plays of Seth saying he is down to doing another kissing prank. “I mean, I don’t know. It’s not really a big deal. It’s the same sh*t, just, I don’t know — more open-minded” Seth says in the video.
YouTuber Trisha Paytas who used to date Jason and be friends with David posted a response to Scotty’s video. She said Scotty is “victim blaming.”
David currently has 18.8 million subscribers on YouTube. He took a bit of a hiatus from vlogging in 2020 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
