Danny Trejo Releases New Memoir to Amazon’s Best Book of July List
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Danny Trejo, or, Raccoon as we know him from The Masked Singer, has released his new book telling his life story. The Masked Singer contestant and iconic actor just proved to the world that acting (and singing) aren’t his only talents.
Trejo, known for roles in From Dusk Til Dawn, Heat, and (my personal favorite) Spy Kids, released a book called Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood with fellow actor, Donal Logue. The non-fiction book is summarized as: “[A] “celebration of a life fully lived” (Reyna Grande, author of The Distance Between us), discover the full, fascinating and inspirational true story of Danny Trejo’s journey from crime, prison, addiction and loss.”
This 288-page book already has 3.5 stars on Amazon after just one day. Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood is featured in Amazon Editors Best Books in July list. This book currently sits at #1 best seller in biographies of movie directors and also sits at #2 in Hispanic, and Latino biographies and #7 in Actor and Entertainer biographies.Â
“It was a huge honor for the Amazon editorial board to select it as a Best Book of the Month,” said co-writer, Donal Logue, on Instagram. “We had no idea about the Times Square Billboard they were going to put upâ€.Â
Trejo Chosen for Best Books in July List
“What Trejo did with the new Danny involves both Hollywood and working to help others—with addiction, relapse, and recovery,†said Vanessa Cronin in the Amazon review. “And both aspects are described in a no-holds-barred, honest, grateful, and amusing way that makes Trejo way more moving and illuminating than your average celebrity wandering down memory lane.â€
This book is said to share a captivating story that engulfs readers. It also shares Trejo’s hardships in a tasteful way to make the reader think. Trejo shares that he is thrilled for this billboard on his Instagram. He has been promoting this book on his social media since his March appearance on The Masked Singer when he shared: “I don’t care, I was a cute raccoon,” during his unmasking.
Since then, he’s been promoting his book, meeting with other celebs, and was even featured in a National Geographic show. We’re happy to see raccoon doing so well since his unmasking. We wish him the best with his new book and congratulate him and Logue on their NYC Billboard
