Durant and fellow Deaf performers Anjel Piñero and Shaheem Sanchez will be on hand to perform three different songs in ASL during the Super Bowl LVIII pregame festivities on February 11 in Las Vegas. Durant will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which will be sung by Reba McEntire.
Meanwhile, Piñero will deliver an ASL performance “America the Beautiful,” which will be sung by Post Malone. Sanchez will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in ASL, while Andra Day will deliver a vocal performance of the song. Sanchez will also sign the Halftime Show, headlined by Usher.
According to the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), information about where to watch this year’s ASL performances at the Super Bowl will be made available at a later time. The game itself will air on CBS from Allegiant Stadium.
Durant shared the news of his involvement in the pregame festivities on Instagram Wednesday, writing that he’s “excited and honored” to be a part of the big game. The actor added that he “can’t wait to be there with other amazing Deaf performers.”
Durant Recently Got Engaged to Britt Stewart
Durant competed on Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars with partner Britt Stewart in 2022. They finished the competition in fifth place. On Valentine’s Day in 2023, the pair announced that they had started dating.
Then a few days after Christmas last year, the couple announced that they had gotten engaged. Durant reportedly proposed to Stewart while they were on a Christmas Day hike with their families in Lake Arrowhead, California.
Stewart is currently one of the pro dancers performing on the 2024 DWTS live tour, which runs through March of this year.
