Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke shared on Instagram that she tested positive for COVID-19. Burke is supposed to be dancing with Cody Rigsby tonight during the live show. She will now enter a mandatory 10-day quarantine and will, unfortunately, have to miss out on tonight’s show.
‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pro Cheryl Burke Breaks Down After Testing Positive for COVID
“I feel so bad for Cody, I feel like I’m letting him down,” Burke said in the video. “I just feel like sh*t, to be quite honest. It’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow.”
Burke went to get tested on Sunday and shared the results with tears in her eyes. She said she was feeling “progressively worse” as the day went on. There is no exact word on the last time Burke and Rigsby practiced or were in contact with each other.
The Dancing with the Stars pair did post photos and videos together practicing in New York four days ago. One of the videos featured the couple asking for fans to vote for them. It was posted on Sunday morning only a few hours before Burke shared her test results.
Will Rigsby Still Be Perfoming Tonight?
If he tests negative, Rigsby is expected to dance with a different pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars. Sofia Ghavami is one of the new troupe dancers that will be on hand throughout the season. Fans could possibly be seeing her dance with Rigsby tonight.
“I figured I should let you guys know since I’ve been as open and as real and vulnerable as I could be here,” Burke told her followers. “I just hope I didn’t spread it.”
In the past when situations like this came up, the Dancing with the Stars judges were also able to judge the couple on footage from their rehearsals. Tonight is the first elimination of the season. Burke’s diagnosis will most likely not mean that the Peloton instructor is going to be automatically eliminated.
Rigsby and Burke performed a Tango to “Physical” by Dua Lipa during the show’s premiere. They received a score of 24 from the judges. Fans have been sending Burke well wishes online and hope that Rigsby will get to continue on in the competition.
