‘Dancing with the Stars’ Insider Teases Big Season 33 Changes

Dancing with the Stars Season 33 is set to premiere on September 17, and fans are waiting to find out which celebrities and pro dancers will be competing in the ballroom this year. Insider Kristyn Burtt recently teased that there will be a “dramatic shift” in the cast this time around.
Kristyn Burtt Teases ‘Dramatic Shift’ for DWTS Season 33
So far, only one cast member has been confirmed for DWTS Season 33 — Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik. However, show insider Kristyn Burtt recently posted a TikTok sharing that she has a list of this season’s cast, and there are some differences from past years.
“This cast is gonna look different than it did for Season 32,” Burtt shared. “The size of the cast is much smaller, and right now they have settled on 10 — there are 10 celebrities signed up for this season. They are looking for one more.”
Burtt added that this also means that “another pro is in limbo, waiting and hoping that they get a partner the season.” She teased that some pros will not be featured in the season, while others will be coming back. There will also apparently be some “new faces.”
“I feel like the pros need to speak for themselves, ’cause some may have opted out on their own,” Burtt said, adding that she’s “not privy to any of that.”

How Many Couples Competed Last Season?
It sounds like Season 33 will only feature 10 or 11 couples, which is down from last year’s 14. The season before that, there were 16 couples competing. In fact, the last time the number was as low as 10 was back in Season 26, which aired in 2018.
The full cast for Season 33 will be revealed September 4 on Good Morning America. However, fans might be able to do some snooping in the meantime, as the celebrities start to meet their partners and begin rehearsing.
