Country Rivals Are Allegedly Jealous of Blake Shelton Amid Success of ‘Barmageddon’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
With his established reputation on The Voice and the impressive ratings of Barmageddon, Blake Shelton is hands-down one of most famous country stars today. However, while these accomplishments could be inspiring for others, some country artists are seemingly threatened and upset. A recent report by Radar Online alleged that Shelton is infuriating his country rivals with his skyrocketing success in Nashville, Tennessee.
Country Musicians Reportedly Want Blake Shelton to Head Back to Oklahoma
Since its premiere on television, Blake Shelton’s Barmageddon has been reaping impressive feedback from its viewers. The television show takes place in his “damn bar” in Nashville, Ole Red.
Apparently, this achievement happens to be a bad news for his ex-wife Miranda Lambert and fellow country singers Dierks Bentley and Jason Aldean, who also own bars in town. According to an unknown source, these musicians believe that Shelton has been “acting like he owns the place” and becoming too braggy.
“They’re jealous of the way Blake has taken over [Nashville] with his bar and now this show,” the source said. “They don’t like the way Blake’s stealing their customers.”
The insider further stated that Shelton’s ego went beyond boundaries as he’s been earning a ton with Barmageddon. Allegedly, the “Honey Bee” singer is rubbing his fortune in and declaring that he’s made Nashville hot again. Understandably, this would irk his rivals’ guts.
Back in 2013, Shelton sparked a controversy when he said that country songs are grandpa’s music nobody wants to listen to. It turns out that this statement still lingers around the head of the country music community.
“Now, they’re all hoping the show takes a nosedive and Blake goes back to Oklahoma where he belongs,” the source said.
Shelton hasn’t said anything about the issue yet. Meanwhile, Lambert, Bentley, and Aldean neither confirmed nor denied the allegations.
Barmageddon Continues to Increase Viewership
Shelton and The Voice host Carson Daly first aired Barmageddon in December 5, 2022. Amazingly, this game show has become USA Network’s most-viewed season premiere, having 1.2 million total viewers. This rating is approximately an 81% increase from the same-day audience in nearly three years.
Additionally, the show has attracted the 18-49 demographic, entertaining a wide variety of audiences. At present, Barmageddon continues to catch the interest of the public with its over-the-top bar games including Air Cannon Cornhole, Keg Curling, and Drunken Axe Hole.
Last October, Shelton announced his looming departure from The Voice. The country singer will serve as coach in the upcoming season which is also his final season in the series.
Moreover, Gwen Stefani and John Legend will also be leaving, with Niall Horan and Chance The Rapper as their replacements. Pop artist Camila Cabello will not come back for season 23. Nonetheless, Kelly Clarkson will return and fill up another empty seat.
