Coral Stuns in Haunting Performance from ‘The Masked Singer’ Premiere

The Masked Singer returned on Wednesday night for Season 13, and the show shared an early release performance from the premiere episode earlier this week. The clip features a contestant nicknamed Coral, who sings a haunting rendition of “Mad World” by Tears for Fears.

Coral wears an avant-garde outfit made up of — you guessed it — pink coral, with puffy shoulders to complete the look. For their premiere performance, Coral was accompanied by dancers dressed like scuba divers.

They stepped down a staircase on stage while delivering the dramatic performance, as the panelists watched with their mouths hanging open in awe. Coral showed off an incredible vocal ability, suggesting that they might be a professional singer.

At the end of the song, Coral held a note that made panelist Rita Ora point to the goosebumps on her arms. Who could be under the mask? We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Coral unmasks later this season.

This Season of the Show Is ‘Lucky 13’

The Masked Singer Season 13 premiered on Wednesday, February 12, on FOX, and is available to stream the next day on Hulu. This season, Nick Cannon is back as host, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora.

The premiere episode featured the first performances from Group A, which includes the contestants Coral, Ant, Paparazzo, Fuzzy Peas, and Honey Pot. In addition to Coral’s performance of “Mad World,” the episode featured songs such as “SexyBack,” “Just Give Me a Reason,” “The Door,” and “La Bamba.”

The show opened with a performance of “Get Lucky,” in keeping with the season’s “Lucky 13” theme. Winning costumes from past seasons of the show were also featured, including Season 12 runner-up Wasp, aka Mario.
