‘The Comeback Stage’ Recap: Nathan & Chesi Take On Savannah Brister
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Bebe Rexha (and her shameless Lays ads) are back for another week of The Comeback Stage! For the first time ever, an eliminated contestant from the Battles is taking on a contestant who failed to turn a chair in their Blind Audition. We have Nathan & Chesi going up against Savannah Brister.
Let’s see how it all played out on this week’s episode of The Comeback Stage! (Probably after a short Lays ad featuring Bebe Rexha.)
Savannah Brister
After being eliminated in her Battle with Maelyn Jarmon, Savnnah Brister joined Bebe’s team on The Comeback Stage. And as a fan of the artist, she seemed genuinely excited! This is the perfect second chance for Savannah, who probably only lost because of her Battle pairing with Team Legend front-runner Maelyn. Now this is the kind of comeback we can cheer for!
Savannah decided to keep going with what she does best, the soft, slow ballads. For her Battle, Savannah sang “She Used to Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles. Personally, I have been obsessed with this song since Addison Agen covered it a few seasons ago. So that being said, I obviously loved it. As did Bebe Rexha! She teared up the first time she heard Savannah sing the ballad. Bebe then suggested Savannah stand up and not play piano, which paid off for her final performance. She nailed it! Her runs and overall vocals were on point.
Nathan & Chesi
This twangy country newlywed duo had quite the task ahead of them. They beat Klea Olson in the first episode of The Comeback Stage but Savannah Brister got two chair turns from her Blind Audition and ended up on Team Legend. Having never made a team before, Nathan & Chesi had to fight for their spot here.
For their second appearance on The Comeback Stage, Nathan & Chesi went for a more “vulnerable” song, “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray. Their harmonies and voices have really come a long way! They sounded great separately and together. There were a few moments that seemed off, but you could really, as Bebe said, “feel” their energy. She also mentioned that she thought Nathan had the stronger voice of the two. Ouch! I’d have to agree though. He has a lot of control and held the song together with his guitar playing.
And the Winner Is…
After listening in the “Lays Recording Lounge,” Bebe emerged to crown a winner. I think it’s pretty clear where this was going. She said the act moving on to the next round is Savannah Brister!
From here, Savannah will go head-to-head against the other two winners from the Battle Rounds. Then once those Battle Comeback Winners are decided, the three will face each other. Finally, the top two will have the chance to sing for America’s vote and one will join the Top 13!
But we won’t know who else has a chance to sing for a spot in the Live Shows until next week. Join us then for another recap of The Comeback Stage!
