Colin Jost Hilariously Roasts Wife Scarlett Johansson Amid ‘Weekend Update’ Joke Swap
Reading Time: 3 minutes
In an epic Weekend Update joke swap, writer-comedian Colin Jost was forced to roast his wife Scarlett Johansson. Thanks to his co-anchor Michael Che, he had to make fun of the Lucy star on live television.
Colin Jost Had to Diss Scarlett Johansson for His Weekend Update Punchline
During the long-running comedy sketch series, the co-anchors had to write playful jokes for each other. Jost and Che are then required to deliver them on air, clueless about the humorous material they would be reading.
For the final joke of the segment, Che did not disappoint in putting Jost in a funny position. The quip highlighted a New York law that permits film theaters to serve liquors to viewers. To give context to the joke, the show flashed an OTS graphic of Johansson in Black Widow.
“New York State now allows movie theaters to serve alcohol, which is how I’m finally able to enjoy my wife’s little art movies,” he said. “I’m kidding, honey, I love all of your movies and if you ask me you’re an even better Black Widow than Coretta Scott King.”
To put a twist on the segment, Che introduced a fictional civil rights activist Dr. Hattie Davis, played by actress Daphne Skeeter to sit next to Jost. After the comedian delivered his lines, Davis embarrassingly looked at him, shaking her head in disapproval.
Saturday Night Live airs live, coast-to-coast, at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
She Said Her Husband’s Return to SNL Triggered Changes in Their Household
As per Jost’s comeback on television, Johansson revealed that their parenting schedules had to change. The married couple shares two-year-old son, Cosmo.
“It’s definitely an adjustment in the household,” Johansson said. “That schedule is so crazy. But it’s always exciting to see those guys. They’re incredible, and we need them now more than ever.”
In October 2022, Johansson stated that Jost goes above and beyond his ways to attend to their son’s needs. According to the Avengers star, the comedian is an “extremely hands-on dad,” always making a “point to pitch in” and allow her to rest.
A source also claimed that Jost is “very respectful and caring” with his stepdaughter Rose. Johansson shares Rose with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
Since the lovely couple tied the knot, they have been seizing their “low-key” life away from the limelight.
“They’re very into their privacy and downtime in the Hamptons, where they have a tight-knit support team and a wonderful laid-back lifestyle that they wouldn’t trade for the world,” the source said. “They’re just a very laid-back, functional pair who have a ton of mutual respect. … It works fairly seamlessly and Scarlett’s extremely happy.”
