Cody Rigsby Out of ‘DWTS’ Week Two Performances After Cheryl Burke Tests Positive for Covid-19

Yesterday, Dancing with the Stars professional Cheryl Burke announced that she tested positive for Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated. Due to an abundance of caution, her celebrity partner, Cody Rigsby will not be dancing during tonight’s episode.
Cody and Cheryl are not, however, out of the competition. At the beginning of the episode, host Tyra Banks made sure we all understood that just because the two will not dance tonight, does not mean they are eliminated. Fans can still vote for Cody and Cheryl to keep them in the competition for next week.
Cheryl and Cody joined in via video call to watch rehearsal footage of what would have been this week’s performance. The judges based their votes on last week’s performance and the rehearsal videos for this week’s salsa. The judges gave the salsa a 24 for a total two-week score of 48.
“The world hands you things and you just have to ride the wave and pivot,” Cody said. “I’m excited for Britney week next week and ready to slay.”
After their first performance together, judge Len Goodman called Cody the “one to watch” this season. The fact that he won’t get the chance to show his moves live tonight is a disappointment to all.
Most expected Cody would dance tonight with new back up dancer Sofia Ghavami. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Cody and Cheryl were rehearsing in such close proximity, he was not allowed even the chance to dance with Sofia with limited rehearsal time. To be completely safe, he was asked to sit this week out.
If Cody can be voted through to next week, and he and Cheryl test negative before taping next Monday, we’ll still get to see him rock out on the dance floor again next week.
