Camila Cabello Thinks ‘The Voice’ Needs a Regret Button
Reading Time: 2 minutes
As the newest coach in The Voice, Camila Cabello is surely owning her spot with her persuasive techniques and hilarious banters. Apparently, in between blind auditions, Cabello has thought of another purpose for the show’s famous red button. Here’s everything we know about it.
Camila Cabello Tosses the Concept of a Regret Button
It’s always the worst to see a singer fail to turn any chairs on The Voice. Since this happens rather often, newest coach Camila Cabello has posed an idea for the red button.
“You can only use it one time, kind of like the block button,” she explained. “If you see someone, you hear how they talk, or you kind of fall in love with them afterwards, you press the regret button and suddenly you’re in the fight again.”
Obviously, the coach anticipates similar instances in the future. While the regret idea seems good, some would argue that it defeats the point of the blind auditions, in the long run, it might weaken the show’s uniqueness. The Voice is so popular because coaches are only able to judge the voice of the contestant, not the way they look. If they will still have the chance to press their button after meeting the artist, it will defeat the point of the blind auditions.
Cabello acknowledged that she pitched the idea to the producers, but she did not reveal if it’ll be implemented in the future.
The Voice Launched Additional Functions of the Button in the Past
It’s no secret that The Voice always comes back to air with some new aspect to the show. Last year, the network placed a cute easter egg for Ariana Grande’s career by placing a “Thank U Next” button at her chair. According to The Voice executive producer Audrey Morrissey, they are constantly “trying to find ways to use the button.”
Some of the most famous additions have been the Steal and Block buttons. The Voice introduced the Steal Button in the season three Battle Rounds. This button allows opposing coaches to steal a contestant that the original coach voted off.
Later came the introduction of Block button in season 14. This addition made it so coaches could gain advantage to the singer. The Block remains to be a solid element of the show although it received mixed reaction during its first installment.
