In her new memoir The Woman in Me, Britney Spears opens up about an interview she did with Ryan Seacrest in 2007. The singer shares her frustration over Seacrest asking her about being “a fit mother” to her two kids.
Britney Spears Recalls Ryan Seacrest Interview
In her book, Spears recalls that the only press she did for her 2007 album Blackout was a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest. The American Idol host asked her a few questions about the album before going into Spears’ custody battle with husband Kevin Federline.
“In the interview which was supposed to be about the record, Ryan Seacrest asked me questions like ‘How do you respond to those who criticize you as a mom’ and ‘Do you feel like you’re doing everything you can for your kids?’ and ‘How often will you see them?'” Spears writes in the book, according to The Daily Mail.
Spears shares two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. In 2007, the former couple was in the midst of a custody battle over the kids following Spears’ public breakdown — including shaving her head and swinging an umbrella at a photographer’s car.
“It felt like that was the only thing people wanted to talk about: whether or not I was a fit mother,” Spears writes in her book. “Not about how I’d made such a strong album while holding two babies on my hips and being pursued by dozens of dangerous men all day every day.”

Spears’ Memoir Is Out Now

In another part of the book, Spears recalls her time as a judge on The X Factor, saying she “absolutely hated it.” The singer also shares that she first learned of the #FreeBritney movement (which called for an end to her conservatorship) during a stint in rehab in 2018.
On Tuesday, Spears took to her Instagram account to thank her fans for making The Woman in Me the “highest selling celebrity memoir in history.”
