Brandon Leake, poet and winner of America’s Got Talent Season 15, posted a raw, emotional video this month opening up about his family’s ongoing health challenges. Titled How Am I Actually Doing? – Vulnerability 1.5, the 30-minute video provides an update on Leake’s life after previous concerning social media posts.

Leake begins by explaining this is Episode 1.5 of his Vulnerability podcast series. He shares he felt urged to make the video, believing it could display God’s glory despite his initial reservations.
The story starts in April 2023 when Leake had a panic attack after his flight was canceled ahead of a performance. He felt God urging him to step back from performing and prioritize family. Leake stopped touring in August 2023.
Months later, one of Leake’s children developed concerning symptoms – a worsening rash, leg pain, and fatigue. Doctors first believed it was eczema and growing pains until tests revealed extremely high liver enzymes.
Leake describes the distress of numerous medical appointments and uncertainty around his child’s fluctuating health. After seeing specialists, they received a potential diagnosis of an autoimmune muscular disease.
He details the pain of praying fervently for supernatural healing while facing a three-year treatment journey. Leake shares raw emotions of offering to bear the suffering himself to spare his child.
Though the family continued seeking answers, Leake took comfort in seeing his child’s profound faith during the trials. “There’s not a problem that God can’t solve,” he insisted.
Brandon Leake Reveals The Possible Reason For The Disease
In December 2022, the family learned their home had toxic black mold. They relocated while addressing repairs. Leake expresses hope the mold caused the illness and that removing it will heal his child.
He reflects on God’s fingerprints through it all – the timing of his performing break, financial provision, and his child’s resilient spirit. Leake admits while the situation hasn’t gone as hoped, God remains faithful.
While the family awaits more test results, Leake is on an extended hiatus from creating content. He asks for prayers and encourages anyone struggling to surrender their troubles to God.
Leake closes by sharing his story publicly to display God’s glory, even amidst trials. He believes this testimony will strengthen others’ faith and intimacy with God.
