The Voice coach Blake Shelton stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show this week to chat with his former co-star about the new season of the show, including new coach Camila Cabello. Shelton revealed something Cabello and Clarkson have in common.
Blake Shelton Compares Kelly Clarkson, Camila Cabello
While talking about what Cabello has added to The Voice, Shelton made sure to tell Clarkson, “Nobody’s you.” However, he added, “There is one person we found who can talk as much as you, and that’s Camila.”
Clarkson said she had Cabello on as a show, and she agrees, explaining that the show “had to edit down our interview.” Shelton went on to joke that Clarkson and Cabello couldn’t be on the same season of The Voice together.
He also couldn’t resist getting in a little dig at Clarkson, saying of Cabello, “Although, unlike you, when she talks, she makes sense.” Shelton joked that by the time Clarkson gets to the end of a paragraph, “you don’t even know what you started out saying.”
Clarkson responded with a simple, “No.” She added that she’s “very prolific.”

Shelton, Clarkson Duet the Song ‘Austin’
The duo also took a moment to sing together during his appearance on her show. Shelton strummed the guitar while they performed a quick duet of his debut single, “Austin.” The song came out in 2001 and appeared on Shelton’s self-titled debut album.
“It’s so good!” Clarkson said of the song when they finished singing. “Blake fans already know this, but you gotta listen to the whole song, ’cause then that last chorus hits and you’re like, ‘Agh!’ It’s so good. It’s so good.”
We’re definitely going to miss Shelton’s banter with Clarkson on the upcoming new season of The Voice, but it sounds like Cabello was a great addition to the show. Catch the Season 22 premiere Monday, September 19, at 8/7c on NBC.
