‘BGT’ Auditions Wrap Up with Two More Golden Buzzers
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Britain’s Got Talent returned over the weekend for two more nights of auditions before heading into the Series 17 Semifinals this week. The show continued to bend the rules of the Golden Buzzer, as two more acts received the honor — including one from the audience.
Intense Roller Skating Act Earns BGT Golden Buzzer
The first Golden Buzzer from this weekend went to a married couple from Ukraine named Yevhenii and Vlada. They go by the name Duo Stardust. For their audition, the couple performed an aerial roller skating routine that had the judges gasping.
To start the performance, Yevhenii swung Vlada around as they spun in place, holding her upside down and bringing her dangerously close to the floor. Things got even more dangerous as they hung from the ceiling with Vlada attached to Yevhenii’s neck by her head.
As they hung from the ceiling, Vlada spun around, and sparks came out of her roller skates. The judges were gobsmacked, and they gave the couple a standing ovation for the performance. The audience chanted for them to press the Golden Buzzer.
Simon Cowell answered the call, doing the honors even though he already hit the Golden Buzzer for dance group CyberAgent Legit earlier in the season. Cowell called the performance “absolutely sensational.”
Judges’ Kids Give the Gold to Double Dutch Group
This weekend’s second Golden Buzzer went to a Japanese double Dutch group called Haribow. The group performed jump rope tricks like you’ve never seen before — flipping through the air and bouncing on their hands.
Haribow brought non-stop energy to the stage, and the audience clearly loved it. They chanted for judges to hit the Golden Buzzer, so loudly that the panel couldn’t even share their thoughts on the performance, because they were drowned out by the noise.
Eventually, two very special members of the audience stepped forward to do the honors — Simon Cowell’s son Eric and Amanda Holden’s daughter Hollie. Afterward, Cowell told the audience, “I’m gonna give this one to all of you.”
Holden posted about the moment on Instagram, writing, “I mean … I thought I was going to get fired as it was so unexpected.” She pointed out that this is BGT‘s first audience-chosen Golden Buzzer.
