Reading Time: 3 minutes
Dancing With the Stars‘s season 31 finale was filled to the brim with surprises on top of crowning the season’s Mirrorball Champion. Since so much happened in the episode, let’s recap the best moments you probably missed.
There’s absolutely no words to describe how incredible the remaining four contestants performed during the final night of Dancing With the Stars. If you were as captivated by these dances as I was, you probably missed these key moments in the final episode.
The Best Moments You Probably Missed in The DWTS Season 31 Finale
1. Cheryl Burke’s Beautiful Final Dance
Among the sadness of the night came Cheryl Burke’s final dance on the series. For those who may not know, this dancer has been apart of the show’s cast for 26 seasons, she was the first pro to consecutively win the Mirrorball in seasons two and three. She danced to “Copacabana (At the Copa)” by Barry Manilow with fellow pros Louis van Amstel and Pasha Pashkov.

2. Len Goodman’s Tear-jerking Departure Package
Once again, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience following the announcement of Len Goodman’s retirement. There was a rather lengthy package related to Goodman’s most treasured moments on the series. These moments included the story of how he joined the cast, his feelings toward the other judges, and more.

3. Selma Blair’s Shocking Contemporary Dance
This finale saw previously eliminated celebrities return for group numbers, but Selma Blair strayed away from the pack. Blair returned to the ballroom with partner Sasha Farber for a final contemporary dance to “No Air” performed live by Jordin Sparks. This moment was so special, especially when Sparks cheers the pair on at the end.

4. Sasha Farber and Emma Slater’s Steamy Moment
Among the group dances was the official DWTS 2023 Tour cast. This dance featured various familiar faces, but one part really confused fans. After staying away from one another all season, Emma Slater and Farber were seen in a steamy moment. Earlier in the season, Slater opened up about their split, admitting that they’re still supportive of one another in the ballroom.

@ashhole65 WOW. They have managed to completely stay out of each other’s way all season, I’m rooting for them. They are so beautiful and I hope they get back together. ##Sasha##Emma##Sashaandemma##Shemma##dwts##dancingwiththestars ♬ Monkeys Spinning Monkeys – Kevin MacLeod & Kevin The Monkey
5. Shangela Shares Love Amid LGBTQ+ Hate Crimes
After Shangela’s first dance, she took the time to talk about the recent LGBTQ+ nightclub shooting in Colorado Springs. Instead of talking about her dance, the drag queen asked if she could talk about something important.
“There was a national horrible tragedy that happened in Colorado Springs and baby let me tell you something, an attack on the LGBTQ community cannot, cannot be supported, cannot be loved, this moment right here, this is about sharing more love and less hate,” she said.
The drag queen finished her statement out by sending her love and condolences out to the friends and families of those whose lives were lost. She also made it clear that there is hope for a nicer world.
