Ariana Grande to Guest Judge the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 15 Premiere
Former The Voice coach Ariana Grande was just announced as a guest judge on the Season 15 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The two-part premiere will air on the show’s new home, MTV, on Friday, January 6.
Ariana Grande to Guest Judge ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
RuPaul’s Drag Race shared a teaser video announcing that Grande would appear on the season premiere, calling it a “Special Ru-nouncement.” The singer is shown walking the runway in a cone bra and skirt, sporting dark hair.
“Season 15 is here, and so am I,” Grande can be heard saying as she blows a kiss and walks away.
Grande also posted the video to her own Instagram account, writing in the caption that she’s “not sure who this brown haired/eyebrowed/cone tittied woman is.” She added that she’s “verrrrrrrry excited” to be a guest judge on the premiere.
The singer’s mention of her brown hair is due to the fact that she’s currently blonde for her role as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movie adaptation. The singer has been posting photos with her lighter hair on social media lately.
The Show Is Moving to MTV for the New Season
For Season 15, RuPaul’s Drag Race is moving from its previous home at VH1 to new network MTV. This season will feature 16 contestants — the most of any season in the show’s history. The grand prize has also been raised to $200,000.
“The first episode will be commercial free, while the second episode will have limited commercial interruption, providing viewers with even more charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent,” a press release about the premiere reads, according to Out.
The back-to-back episodes, featuring Grande as a guest judge, will premiere on Friday, January 6, starting at 8/7c on MTV. Judges from past premieres have included Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, and Lizzo.
