BGT Hosts Ant and Dec Test Positive for Covid-19
“Sadly, it’s true… We even get ill together!” Ant and Dec posted on Twitter Wednesday, adding that they felt sick a few days ago and have since tested positive for Covid. They shared that they’re “resting up at home.”
Because of their illness, the pair had to pull out of hosting the new special BGT: The Ultimate Magician, which filmed on Tuesday. They were replaced on the show by Stephen Mulhern, who happens to be a magician himself.
“Ant and Dec are both unwell and have postponed all work commitments until they recover,” a spokesperson for BGT confirmed. “Sadly, this means they were unable to film Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician. Whilst we wish them a speedy recovery, we are thrilled to confirm that BGT’s favorite magician, Stephen Mulhern has stepped in.”
The duo also had to pull out of their appearance at the National Television Awards, which are taking place this Thursday. As they wrote on Twitter, “Best of luck everyone and get well soon to anyone else in the same boat.”

What Is The Ultimate Magician?
BGT: The Ultimate Magician is a two-hour special featuring ten of the best magicians from past Got Talent seasons competing for a £50,000 prize. A release date has yet to be announced, but it’s possible fans will get to see it later this year.
The show’s judging panel features regular BGT judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden. They’re joined by iconic magician Penn Jillette, who is filling on for Simon Cowell. And of course, we now know the special is hosted by Stephen Mulhern.
Ant and Dec aren’t the only talent show hosts who have tested positive for Covid-19 this week. On Tuesday, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest shared news of his own illness. However, it doesn’t appear to have affected Idol filming, as far as we can tell.
