‘AGT’ Singer Robert Finley Set to Join The Black Keys on Tour

Robert made it all the way to the semifinals on Season 14 of AGT. His charisma and soulful voice were a favorite amongst the judges, especially Julianne Hough. It led the singer from Louisiana to gain even more exposure ahead of releasing his album Sharecropper’s Son this year. The bluesy album was originally scheduled for release in 2019 but was pushed back due to the pandemic.

Sharecropper’s Son was produced by Dan Auerback, vocalist of The Black Keys. He has been nominated for the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical Grammy Award three times. Robert’s single “Country Boy” was also co-written by Auerback. Recording with Robert inspired Auerback and The Black Keys to record their album Delta Kream.

“He’s just got that joy in believing,” Auerback said about Robert. “It’s just overwhelming when he walks into a room, it’s amazing.”

The Black Keys announced that Robert would be joining them for their “World Tour of America.” This is a series of three shows in Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. The band will be performing songs from Delta Kream during each set. Tickets are all sold out for all three dates scheduled for September.

Tickets are still available for the Pilgrimage Music & Culture Festival in late-September. Robert and The Black Keys have joined the impressive roster for the Tennessee event. He is a veteran of the stage after performing with his band all over the world, especially after the release of his Goin’ Platinum! album in 2017.

Robert Continues to Pursue His Music Passions

In addition to joining The Black Keys for there three intimate shows, Robert will be touring all over the U.S. through late-October. He has been performing on the road since his time on AGT. After playing shows in New Orleans, he was honored with the People’s Health Award during a New Orleans Saints game for all of his achievements after the age of 65.

Robert also does the church service announcements for the local radio station in Bernice, Louisiana. He has been playing music for the same church for nearly two decades. He was honored by the city of Winnsboro with a key to the city and a holiday named after him.

A music video for “Country Boy” was recorded in Winnsboro where Robert grew up as a sharecropper with his family. He left high school to work full time in the fields. The video features Robert revisiting some of the places that he spent the most time during childhood. It’s funky and a little bit of country. One person in the comments section said the beat is so good it gave her “the stank face.”
