Harry Connick Jr. and Lauren Daigle will perform on American Idol on Monday, April 19. They both have connections to the show, as Connick was a judge for three seasons, and Daigle competed on the show in 2010 and 2012.
Connick will reportedly perform two songs from his new album Alone with My Faith. Daigle, meanwhile, will perform her song “Look Up Child.”

“It’s really nice to be back,” Connick told Billboard. “I had such a good time when I was a judge, and before that, a mentor. So any chance I get to see those folks again, I welcome. I have a lot of friends there.”
Daigle also said she was “excited” about returning, adding, “I don’t have any disdain or any negativity toward the show. At the time I was so young and naïve and I don’t think I knew who I was yet. So I could have been pulled in so many different directions artistically. I feel like it gave me an opportunity to step back.”
Why Are Contestants Returning?
American Idol revealed a major twist this season, as contestants from last year’s competition will return to the show for another chance to win. Ten Season 18 singers will compete for one spot in the Top 10.

These contestants will perform during the April 19 episode of the show. Last year’s production was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning singers had to perform from their homes. Now, they have another chance to take the stage.
Returning contestants from last season include fan favorite Arthur Gunn, as well as Faith Becnel, Makayla Phillips, and Louis Knight. Fans will then have until the following Monday to vote for their favorite comeback performer.
