American Idol season 18 fan favorite Francisco Martin released a new single on March 25 called “Nobody Listens To Me!” Along with the single, he began teasing an upcoming EP set to release this summer.
While most of his post American Idol releases have been acoustic based within the genre of alternative “Nobody Listens To Me!” differs greatly. It has more of a pop-punk vibe. The song itself talks about how he hasn’t been the same since 2020. Even though this is different from the singer’s other releases, it’s filled with energy and overall a great tune.
Francisco Martin Set to Release Manic EP This July
Along with the release of this track, Francisco shared a photo on Twitter explaining that “Nobody Listens To Me!” embodies the insecurities and heartaches he’s experienced since his music career began. He stated that this song helped him see the beauty in his music and pushed him to continue pursuing his path in the industry.
While most of Francisco’s Instagram comments about the tune are positive, he still received hate for the genre change. He addressed the hate on Twitter, stating that he is attempting to grow as an artist with this different track.
Following “Nobody Listens To Me!” Francisco published a video of him on Instagram. Within the video he sits on a couch, introduces himself and talks as if he is in therapy. The word “Manic” appears on the screen between a few of his statements. At the end of the video, the singer shares that his EP Manic releases on July 22. It’s clear that this entire EP will be filled with more vulnerable songs similar to his recent single.
His Journey on American Idol
Francisco started off as the shy and nervous singer who blossomed after his American Idol audition of “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers in 2020. Since finishing the series out in the top five of the season, Francisco signed with 19 Recordings and has gone on to release his debut EP, Beautiful Ramblings of a Restless Mind.
This singer was previously open about his struggle with anxiety and has since opened up about his struggles with depression. Last fall, this singer went on nine stop tour throughout six different states. Fellow American Idol alum Hunter Metts joined Francisco on the tour.
When Francisco isn’t singing, he’s seen creating TikTok videos. On this platform he gets candid about his struggles as a singer songwriter. A few of his recent videos talk about how his mental health has an affect on his career.
