Tongi Released a Song with James Blunt
For his audition on American Idol Season 21, Tongi performed an emotional cover of the song “Monsters” by James Blunt, dedicated to his late father. Blunt later joined Tongi for a live performance of the song during the season finale.
The two singers recently teamed up for an official studio version of the track, which was released last week. When announcing the release on Instagram, Tongi wrote that the song “changed my life” and “means so much to me.”
Blunt wrote the song about his own father after he was diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease. The track was released in 2019, with Blunt’s father Charles appearing in the music video in 2020. For Father’s Day in 2021, Blunt updated fans to say that his father was “alive and well.”
