Top 12 Revealed in American Idol Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Week
The theme of this week’s episode was the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as the contestants were asked to perform a song by one of the many inductees. James Taylor appeared as a guest mentor to help the singers prepare for their performances.
Highlights from Sunday’s show included John Foster’s cover of “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley. Judge Luke Bryan praised him for staying true to himself on such a famous song, while Carrie Underwood compared John to “a young Dwight Yoakam.”
Another standout performance from Sunday’s episode came from Jamal Roberts, who took the stage to perform “Shout” by the Isley Brothers. Jamal brought all the energy and power you’d expect to hear on a cover of the iconic song. Underwood called it the “perfect song choice.”
Both John Foster and Jamal Roberts made it into the Top 12 after America’s vote, along with all three Platinum Ticket winners (Kolbi Jordan, Filo, and Canaan James Hill), as well as Gabby Samone, Mattie Pruitt, Thunderstorm Artis, Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, Josh King, and Ché.

Who Was Eliminated This Week?
Voting was open during the show on Sunday, with two singers being eliminated at the end of the night. One of those singers was Desmond Roberts, who took a risk by singing “Jesus Is Love” by judge Lionel Richie’s group, the Commodores.
Richie praised the performance, telling Desmond that he “found some octaves I didn’t sing,” joking that he was trying “to take my song.” Despite the positive feedback, Desmond didn’t earn enough votes from viewers to make it into the Top 12.
The other singer eliminated during Sunday night’s show was Amanda Barise, who took the stage to perform “I Can’t Help It” by Michael Jackson. The judges gave Amanda a standing ovation, with Bryan saying she “crushed it.”
Unfortunately, Amanda didn’t impress the viewers at home enough to earn her a spot in the Top 12. Do you agree with America’s choices this week? Let us know in the comments below.
