American Idol Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina has signed with Big Loud Records after announcing her departure from Mercury/Universal Music Group earlier this year. Alaina shared her excitement about taking the next step in her career.
Lauren Alaina Signs with Big Loud Records
In April, Alaina announced to fans that she had left her record label of 11 years, calling it a “tough decision” but saying it was time to “spread my wings and close a very important chapter of my life.” She’s now signed to Big Loud Records.
“I got a label that matches my personality: big, loud and country,” the 27-year-old singer told Billboard of her new label. “So I think that that’s what my music will be: big, loud and country.”
Although she apparently met with a few different companies, Big Loud was her “dream label.” She previously collaborated with the label’s fellow artist HARDY on the 2020 song “One Beer,” also featuring Devin Dawson.
Big Loud partner/CEO Seth England said Alaina “has barely scratched the surface of what we think we can do together,” adding, “Lauren Alaina deserves to be, in my opinion, on the same pedestal as Carrie Underwood, and it’s our job to help her find that mode.”

Alaina Has Released Three Studio Albums
Before signing with Big Loud, Alaina released three studio albums. Her first, titled Wildflower, was released in 2011 after she finished American Idol in second place behind Scotty McCreery. She followed that up in 2017 with Road Less Traveled.
Alaina’s most recent album is Sitting Pretty on Top of the World, released in 2021. According to Billboard, new music is coming later this year, with England saying he wants Alaina to “get really specific” with her songwriting. Alaina says she wants to “tap into my country roots.”
“I don’t think people remember like how Southern I am,” she continued. “If you go back and watch me on American Idol, I’m like a country girl through and through.”
