American Idol was recently renewed for Season 21, which will be the show’s sixth season on ABC. With a new competition coming up, that means it’s time for singers to start thinking about auditioning. Fans can sign up now to find out more.

‘American Idol’ Renewed for Season 21 on ABC

Last week, it was announced that ABC had renewed American Idol for Season 21. Deadline reports that the network cited the show’s success in the ratings, calling it ABC’s top show this season for total viewers. It’s apparently up 15 percent since last season in the 18-49 demographic.

The show celebrated the renewal during Sunday night’s new episode, as host Ryan Seacrest shared the news live on air. However, it hasn’t been confirmed yet who will be back for the next season. Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan have all appeared on five seasons on ABC.

Deadline reports that the show’s stars usually sign on for the next season later in the summer, so we may have to wait a few months to know for sure whether we can expect the same panel. None of the judges appear to have posted about the renewal on social media since the announcement.

Fans Can Sign Up for Audition Alerts Now

Season 21 auditions aren’t open just yet, but fans can sign up for audition alerts to find out about upcoming online auditions and virtual open calls. You can go to the show’s website to sign up. Remember that you must be at least 15 years old.

The show started accepting video auditions for the current season at the end of May last year, so singers could have the opportunity to share their talent very soon. In addition to submitting video auditions, hopefuls could also attend virtual auditions on certain dates ahead of the current season.

While we wait for more news about Season 21, the Season 20 finale will air this Sunday, as a new winner will be crowned. The Top 3 were just announced to be HunterGirl, Noah Thompson, and Leah Marlene.
