‘American Idol’ Platinum Ticket Recipients Sing Together in Early Release Clip

American Idol Season 22 auditions have wrapped up, and Hollywood Week kicks off this Sunday night on ABC. In an early release clip from the new episode, this season’s three Platinum Ticket recipients join forces for a cover of “California Dreamin’.”
American Idol Platinum Ticket Winners Sing Together
In recent seasons, American Idol has awarded a Platinum Ticket to a select few exceptional contestants, in place of the usual Golden Ticket to Hollywood. This Platinum Ticket allows these singers to skip the first round of the dreaded Hollywood Week.
This season, the Platinum Ticket was awarded to Odell Bunton Jr., Abi Carter, and Julia Gagnon. The three singers teamed up for a performance of “California Dreamin'” by The Mamas & the Papas, presumably in honor of the show’s filming location.
Abi started the performance with a tender rendition of the song at the keyboard, before Odell walked out and added his own soulful voice to the mix. Last to appear on the stage was Julia, who amazed the judges as she belted out the lyrics.
When the song was done, the judges gave the trio a standing ovation. They looked simultaneously stunned by the singers’ talent and proud of themselves for choosing these three as the Platinum Ticket recipients.

Hollywood Week Kicks Off Sunday Night
This Sunday, March 31, marks the first part of the infamous Hollywood Week on American Idol Season 22. The show will also be on Monday night, as the singers who made it through the audition round fight to stay in the competition.
Hollywood Week is notorious for making the singers work hard, and there is frequently tension and drama as contestants work together for their performances. The singers who impress the judges have a chance to move on, while others have to stay goodbye.
