‘American Idol’ Auditions Wrap Up with Final Platinum Ticket
Reading Time: 3 minutes
American Idol Season 22 auditions wrapped up on Sunday night, as the judges heard the final round of hopefuls sing for their chance to go to Hollywood. During the episode, the panel handed out the final Platinum Ticket of the season to Julia Gagnon.
American Idol Judges Hand Out Final Platinum Ticket
This season on American Idol, the judges had three Platinum Tickets to hand out to singers who blew them away in their auditions. Unlike the typical Golden Ticket, the Platinum Ticket allows the singer to skip the first round of the dreaded Hollywood Week.
Going into Sunday’s new episode, two of the Platinum Tickets had been awarded, so it was only a matter of time before the panel chose the third and final recipient. That recipient turned out to be Julia Gagnon, a 21-year-old singer who shared her story of being adopted from an orphanage in Guatemala and later finding her birth mother.
Julia was the last person to audition for the show, performing “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin, showing off a powerful voice that clearly impressed the panel. The judges gave Julia a standing ovation, with Katy Perry predicting that she’ll make it to the Top 10.
With auditions done, this season’s Platinum Tickets have gone to Julia Gagnon, Abi Carter, and Odell Bunton Jr. They’ll be able to skip the first round of Hollywood Week, which kicks off next week.

The Bachelor Star’s Daughter Auditions
During Sunday’s new episode, 14-year-old Camila Galavis auditioned for the judges. She’s the daughter of Juan Pablo Galavis, who famously appeared on The Bachelor. Her dad showed up to the audition and shared that she’s been singing since she was little.
For her audition, Camila sang “Rabia” by Joaquina. The judges thought she had a listenable pop voice, but they could tell that she’s young by her difficulty with the higher notes. Luke Bryan worried that she would “get swallowed up” by the competition.
Lionel Richie voted no to sending Camila to Hollywood, but Perry voted yes to taking a chance on her. It was down to Bryan, who said he was initially a no but changed his mind, saying she has a “radio tone.” The judges presented Camila with a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
Past Contestant Returns to Wow the Judges
Sunday’s episode also featured an audition from Jayna Elise, who previously competed on Season 21 of the show. The 22-year-old singer made an impact by showing incredible kindness and generosity to her fellow contestants during Hollywood Week. She shared that she’s back now to make sure “that I also get my moment to shine.”
For her audition, Jayna performed “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The judges gave her a standing ovation for the performance, with Katy Perry calling it a “full three-course meal.” She added that Jayna has grown as a singer since last season. The judges gave Jayna a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
Jayna wasn’t the only familiar face during Sunday’s episode. You might recognize sisters Jacy and Mia Matthews from their time on The Voice Season 19, when they turned all four coaches’ chairs as part of the country trio Worth the Wait alongside their mom.
Both Jacy and Mia auditioned for the American Idol judges, who gave both sisters a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. We’ll get to see the first part of Hollywood Week next Sunday night on ABC, as the competition narrows down.
