‘American Idol’ Judges Win Award for Best Reality Show Panel
Would you consider the American Idol judges to be the best reality competition panel on TV? The American Reality Television Awards certainly think so.
The 2021 ARTAS were held this week, and Idol won in the category of Outstanding Judging Panel. FOX’s The Masked Singer also took home an award during the ceremony.
‘American Idol’ Named Best Judging Panel
Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan were declared the best of the best when it comes to judging reality competition shows. They were up against the panels on Chopped, Dancing with the Stars, The Great American Baking Show, Kids Baking Championship, Making the Cut, Shark Tank, and World of Dance.
The show’s host, Ryan Seacrest, was also nominated in the Host/Hostess category, but he lost to Wayne Brady, who hosts Let’s Make a Deal. Brady also won the second season of The Masked Singer as the Fox, and he hosts the series Game of Talents.
Interestingly, Seacrest was the only talent show host nominated in the category. Carson Daly, Terry Crews, and Nick Cannon weren’t included for hosting The Voice, America’s Got Talent, and The Masked Singer, respectively.
‘The Masked Singer’ Wins at the ARTAS
Even though Cannon and the judges weren’t nominated, The Masked Singer still won big at the ARTAS. It won for Outstanding Competition Show, against some pretty big titles. America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, and The Voice were also nominated.
Other shows The Masked Singer beat were Chopped, Floor Is Lava, Holey Moley, and Songland. The series has been a surprise success, with Nick Lachey recently winning the fifth season as the Piglet. The show also has a spin-off called The Masked Dancer, which just finished its first season with winner Gabby Douglas.
What do you think about this year’s ARTAS winners? Do you agree that American Idol has the best judging panel on television? Would you have given the Competition Show title to The Masked Singer? Let us know in the comments.
