This singer performed “Glitter in the Air’ by P!nk. She said she was “proud” of her performance. Luke said it was good to see Julia stepping away from her piano, and said the judges think she can go a long way in the competition, calling her a “frontrunner.” Julia is going to the Top 20.
This singer’s family surprised her in Hawaii before her performance. She sang “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman. The judges were impressed by her performance, and sent Aliana to the Top 20.
Sophia spent time in Hawaii with her brother James, who has an intellectual disability called Fragile X syndrome. During the showcase, she performed “Levels” by Nick Jonas. Katy was impressed by the performance, but said Luke and Lionel didn’t agree with her. However, they still sent Sophia to the Top 20.
This singer, who lost his father last year, performed an energetic rendition of “Take Me to the Pilot” by Elton John. During the performance, Katy suggested that it was “too much.” Luke said it was “all over the map,” and he needed to control it more. Robert will not be going to the Top 20. After the judging, Robert ran from the cameras and was chased by Bobby Bones, who gave him advice about moving forward.
This singer is bonding with her musician dad throughout her American Idol journey. She performed “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore” by Demi Lovato. The judges said this singer had an “instant identity” when he auditioned. In Hawaii, he performed Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” on the guitar. Katy encouraged him to continue connecting with the audience. Lionel called him “pure light,” and said it was the “easiest decision” they made to send him to the Top 20.
This singer, who has struggled with confidence, performed “Lonely” by Noah Cyrus. Unfortunately, Demi won’t be moving on to the Top 20, although the judges said they’re “proud” of her. “It’s not my time right now,” Demi acknowledged. “Life goes on, and I’ll go on.”

These singers were the last two contestants to be judged. Grace performed “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” by Carole King. Lauren performed “Two More Bottles of Wine” by Emmylou Harris. The judges talked to both Grace and Lauren together.
