American Idol Star Hannah Harper on Show’s Demands
According to Entertainment Now, Hannah Harper recently answered questions from fans on Instagram stories. One user asked, “What do you enjoy LEAST about your life right now?”
“Feeling pulled in too many directions,” Hannah wrote in response. “Some days I wish there were two of me — one who could chase every music dream God has placed in my heart, and another who could stay home and just be the mama she once was.”
Another fan asked Hannah about what it was like behind the scenes on American Idol, to which she responded, “Long hours of hurry up and wait. The hardest part for me is being cooped up in a room, not able to see my husband & babies. I leave before they wake up and don’t get back til they’re in bed.”
The mother of three added that she’s “reminding myself it’s just temporary,” writing, “That will NOT be our way of life outside of idol. I refuse…”
Earlier this week, American Idol aired the first episode of performances from the season’s Top 20 contestants, who made it through the new Ohana round at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Ten singers took the stage on Monday night’s show.
For her Top 20 performance, Hannah chose to sing “Ain’t No Grave” by Bethel Music & Molly Skaggs. The judges loved it, with Lionel Richie telling Hannah that she “went from singing to preaching.” Carrie Underwood said the performance “gave me chills.”
Voting was open overnight to determine which contestants will move on to the live shows, but we still have one more Top 20 episode to get through before then. On Monday night, the second half of the competition will take the stage in Hawaii for America’s votes.
