On Thursday, American Idol shared a video on social media featuring the show’s judges, as well as host Ryan Seacrest. The post reveals that Season 22 (the seventh season on ABC) will premiere on February 18, 2024.
The two-hour season premiere on ABC (streaming on Hulu) will feature the first auditions of the new season, as more talented singers perform for the judges in the hope of receiving a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

The Show Will Visit the Judges’ Hometowns
Heavy reports that this season of American Idol will feature visits to the judges’ hometowns. That includes Luke Bryan’s hometown of Leesburg, Georgia; Lionel Richie’s hometown of Tuskegee, Alabama; and Katy Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara, California.
“Every season we learn more about each other, especially this season,” Perry teased during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Bryan added that visiting each other’s hometowns was “like being on a field trip.”
This upcoming season will feature a familiar face to fans of The Voice. Hailey Mia, who finished Season 21 in fourth place, recently announced that she auditioned for the show. Heavy also reports that 2018 X Factor UK runner-up Scarlett Lee auditioned for this season.
