It’s almost time for the next season of American Idol. With the new season premiering only months away, the show has premiered their first official teaser of the season.
American Idol Returns to ABC in February 2024
Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry are back traveling to hometowns for the upcoming American Idol season. The newly premiered 30-second teaser features the judges during hometown visits.
“American Idol goes all over the nation,” Bryan said in the beginning of the teaser.
Bryan’s glimpse features him in a field, while the next portion shows Perry and Richie in a school gymnasium. Followed by the judges posing in front of military members.
“The hometowns big and small,” Bryan said, followed by Perry, “In search of America’s next superstar.”
The most exciting portion of the teaser is when the show announces their premiere month. Although we have yet to have a final date, American Idol Season 22 will premiere in February 2024. It’s said that this video is set to premiere during tonight’s CMA Awards, which Bryan is hosting alongside Peyton Manning.
American Idol Season 21 ended on a high note, with the new champion, Hawaii native, Iam Tongi. Since the season concluded, Tongi has been quite busy touring and releasing music.
Auditions Kick off in Luke Bryan’s Hometown
In early October, it was revealed that American Idol’s judges and host were reunited once again for the beginning of their season. At the time, it was revealed that the cast was filming in Luke Bryan’s hometown, Leesburg, Georgia. When the crew came to town, producers apparently silently contacted city officials. This resulted in a welcoming ceremony on Main Street, and a pep rally.
“This season is all about celebrating hometowns,” producer Melissa Elfar told WALB. “We’re starting with our judges and then it goes down to our contestants. So we are really here to learn about all of our contestants, their hometowns, where they come from, and really give people from all across the country a chance at stardom, a chance to make their dreams come true.”
The first filmed day of auditions is said to take place in Bryan’s high school auditorium. At the time, it wasn’t revealed whether only Leesburg natives would be involved or not. It’s possible that this location was where all Georgia singers had to audition this time around.
Ahead of Bryan’s hometown, the American Idol crew hit Tuskegee, Alabama; where Richie attended Tuskegee University. Apparently, hundreds of fans lined the street to welcome the celebrities of the series, and the town mayor gave Richie a key to the city.
It’s clear that American Idol is set to have many hometown moments and even more hometown surprises in store for this season. American Idol Season 22 hits ABC in February 2024.
