‘American Idol’ Alum Francisco Martin Releases New Single ‘Passenger Princess’

American Idol Season 18 contestant Francisco Martin has a new single out called “Passenger Princess.” The singer shows off the voice that sent him to the show’s Top 5 in a song that plays on the recent TikTok trend about women who like to be driven around.

“Then you can let your hair down / Driving down the 1 next to a goddess,” Martin sings on the song’s chorus. “To be real with you I think I’m ’bout to fall in / You don’t have to leave just yet / My passenger princess.”

The song has a cool style and a funky beat that might just have you dancing along in the car, no matter what seat you’re in. The official art for the track shows Martin sitting in the driver’s seat while a crown rests on the dashboard.

“‘Passenger Princess’ brings timely joy to the table when you didn’t ask for it,” Martin said of the song in a press release. “Its free, radical-like soundscape and subtle pull for attention bridges the gap between my influences of indie rock and soul.”

What Has Martin Been Up to Since the Show?

Martin made it to the Top 5 of American Idol Season 18, after singing songs such as “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers and “Falling” by Harry Styles during his time on the show. He’s spent the years since Idol releasing music and touring.

The singer has released two EPs since appearing on the show. The first, titled Beautiful Ramblings of a Restless Mind, came out in 2021. The second, titled Manic, was released last year. Martin also recently collaborated with Season 20 contestant Fritz Hager to co-write the song “Caroline.”
