Former American Idol contestant Colin Stough was reportedly arrested last week for alleged drunk driving in Tennessee following a car crash. The 20-year-old was also apparently charged with drinking underage.
American Idol Alum Colin Stough Arrested for DUI
According to TMZ, Stough was arrested early Friday morning after police responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-840 East, outside Nashville. Stough was reportedly charged with DUI, underage consumption of alcohol, and failure to exercise due care.
The singer was apparently cleared at a hospital before he was booked, and he has since been bailed out. TMZ published Stough’s mug shot from his arrest, in which he can be seen wearing a collared shirt with his long hair pulled back.
Recently Stough has been promoting his music on social media. Interestingly, on Friday (the day of his arrest), the singer posted a snippet of a song with the caption, “I’m not perfect and will never claim to be. But I will admit when I’m wrong and that’s a fact.”
The 20-year-old also appears to be driving again. On Monday, Stough posted a clip of himself on Instagram stories, in which he shows a motorcycle in the bed of his truck as he drives down the road.
Stough competed on Season 21 of American Idol back in 2023, when he was 18 years old. He impressed the judges and won over fans with his country style. Stough ultimately finished the season in third place, behind winner Iam Tongi and runner-up Megan Danielle.
Since appearing on the show, Stough has released two EPs — Promiseland in 2023, and Lookin’ For Home in 2024. Last month, he posted a photo of himself on Instagram with a cigarette in his mouth, captioned, “Who’s ready for some new tunes?”
Stough has also been performing live. He currently has several shows lined up for later this month, and even more later this year. As of this writing, the singer has not directly commented on his arrest.
