Country singer Kameron Ross, who competed on Season 15 of America’s Got Talent, has a new song with an important message for the LGBTQ+ community. Ross penned the track, titled “Crosswalks” with his husband Lio.
AGT Star Kameron Ross Releases New Song ‘Crosswalks’
“CROSSWALKS comes from a very real place for me… love, frustration, and the need to stand up for the people and communities that mean everything to me,” Kameron Ross wrote on Instagram when announcing the new song.
The track’s title is a reference to the recent removal of rainbow-painted crosswalks in Dallas, where Ross is based. As Ross sings on the song’s chorus, “We’re all trying to speak our truth / But these days we’re losing faith / We don’t want to see another crosswalk erased / We don’t want to see another crosswalk fade away.”
“Representation really does matter, especially for the folks who need it most. What might seem like a small gesture to some can mean everything to someone else,” Ross told a local paper about the song. “And to me, those crosswalks carry that same kind of weight. They’re more than paint on the street. They’re a signal, a welcome, a reminder that this community is here… and it isn’t going anywhere.”
Toward the start of the song, Ross shares a powerful message for the trans community in particular, singing, “Our trans brothers and sisters / God, you know they’re strong / They shouldn’t have to fight for the right to belong.” The song also seems to touch on the topic of immigration, referring to “the ones crossing borders.”
The song is making a difference through more than just words and music. As Ross shared in his Instagram post announcing the project, “A portion of all sales will be donated to the Cedar Springs Merchant Association to help restore and uplift the color and spirit of our community.”

Ross Co-Wrote the Song with His Husband
What makes “Crosswalks” even more special is that Ross co-wrote the song with his husband Lio. They had help from Ross’ producer Dave Tough, whom Ross called “an amazing ally.” This is the first song Ross has written with his husband.
Ross told Talent Recap that “Crosswalks” will be the first single off his upcoming new album, titled No Big Deal, out this summer. He shared that the album will feature RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Alyssa Edwards and Kylie Sonique Love, as well as singer Shaquira McGrath, whom Ross called “my best friend I met on my season of AGT.”
The cover artwork for “Crosswalks” features a colorful drawing of Ross with his guitar, standing on a crosswalk with rainbow lines. Behind him, protesters hold up signs with messages such as “Be Yourself,” “Protect the Dolls,” “We Belong, and “ICE Out!” The art was created by artist Humberto Cruz. Ross wrote on Instagram that Cruz “captured this story in a way I couldn’t have imagined.”
“Crosswalks” is out April 10, and Ross told the Dallas Voice that he encourages fans to purchase the song in addition to streaming, “as it directly impacts visibility for independent artists and helps maximize the donation impact.”
Kameron Ross competed on Season 15 of AGT in 2020, auditioning with a cover of Brooks & Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road.” He was stopped by judge Simon Cowell before performing an a cappella version of Chris Young’s “If I Stay.” Ross made it to the Quarterfinals before being eliminated. He has since released several singles.
