Alesha Dixon Hits BGT Golden Buzzer for Joseph Charm
After making it through the audition round, stand-up comedian Joseph Charm returned to the stage to deliver another hilarious performance. He joked about being “famous and broke,” the cost of groceries, and his mum’s love for judge Simon Cowell, earning a standing ovation from the panel.
This season, the BGT judges and hosts get to press one Golden Buzzer each during the Semifinals round. This week, it was Alesha Dixon’s turn to do the honors. She chose to press it for Joseph’s performance, with a little help from his mum, who stepped out from the audience to give Cowell a hug.
Joseph became emotional as the gold confetti rained down on the stage. Dixon told him, “Thank you for not letting us down, and for making everybody feel good. That was a beautiful moment. We can’t wait to see you in the Final.”
Joseph then shared that it had been one year to the day since he left his job to pursue comedy full-time. As the audience cheered, he said, “So here I am. Thank you, God. Thank you, everyone.”

Singing Group Hear Our Voice Earns Public Vote
Joseph Charm is now going straight into the finale thanks to Alesha Dixon’s Golden Buzzer. One other act from this week’s Semifinals episode also earned a spot in the finale, thanks to the public vote. That act was the singing group Hear Our Voice.
The choir, which is made up of people who were affected by the British Post Office scandal, delivered an emotional performance of “People Help the People” by Birdy. The panel gave the group a standing ovation at the close of the song.
Judge Bruno Tonioli delivered some passionate words about the “injustice” faced by the group members, encouraging the powers that be to “make it right.” The moment led Dixon to joke, “Bruno for Prime Minister!”
The public may not have voted Tonioli into office, but they did vote for Hear Our Voice to continue in the competition. They’ll join Joseph Charm, Vinnie McKee, The Blackouts, Olly Pearson, Stacey Leadbeatter, Jasmine Rice, and Ping Pong Pang in the BGT Series 18 finale.
In the meantime, there’s still one more Semifinals episode to go, airing next Saturday. Two more acts will be added to the finale lineup, in addition to one wildcard act. What do you think of this week’s results? Let us know in the comments below.
