Grace VanderWaal Stars In ‘Stargirl’ Disney+ Movie

Stargirl will be available to stream on Disney+ starting March 13. Grace shared the date on Instagram, adding that she “can’t tell you how excited I am for you guys to finally see this.”

‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’ WINNERS: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Grace, who is now 16, has said she was “scared” and “nervous” to star in the film, but shared that “it literally changed by life.” She said she’s made the “closest friends” she’s ever had working on the movie.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that there are also some new songs in the movie. At D23 in August, Grace performed “13,” which she called the movie’s “main song.”

What Is ‘Stargirl’ About?

Stargirl is based on a young adult novel of the same name by Jerry Spinelli, from the year 2000. Grace plays Stargirl Caraway, a quirky girl who catches the eye of protagonist Leo Borlock (Graham Vershere).

The story, which features themes of nonconformity, also has a sequel called Love, Stargirl. Will Disney be adapting that book as well? We’ll just have to wait and see what the response to the first movie is like.

From America’s Got Talent to starring in Disney movie

Talent shows are often bashed for not giving their contestants a platform that is built on concrete but Grace Vanderwaal is proving the tide has turned. The significance of her success is that Disney took an AGT winner who came out of nowhere. She doesn’t have a star studded family or a famous last name. Disney gave her a shot by seeing how powerful and influential she had become on and since America’s Got Talent. Hopefully this will shit all the talent show haters. That said Simon Cowell saw the star power in her and called her the next Taylor Swift but from the looks of it, she might be the first Grace Vanderwaal.
