America’s Got Talent Season 12 winner Darci Lynne Farmer is continuing to pursue original music, releasing a new single called “Someone Wake Me Up.” The 19-year-old ventriloquist has been branching out into singing without her puppets.

On Farmer’s new song, she sings about how hard it is to find true love, and wanting someone to wake her up when it finally happens. She sings that she’s “waiting to find an old-school kind of guy, someone I can’t get enough of.”

“I’m almost 20 years old, so I’ve had my fair share of dates and boys,” Farmer told People. “It’s safe to say I’ve almost lost hope for something real, but this song is hopeful. I hope people listen and believe in true love like I still do!”

Farmer co-wrote the new song with Shane Henry and Maggie McClure, with whom she also collaborated on her debut single “Push Our Luck,” released earlier this year. She told People that this new track “leans more ‘pop’ than the country vibe” of the previous release.

She added that she’s “super passionate” about songwriting, which she started during in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, fans knew her better for performing song covers through ventriloquism.

Is the Singer Still with Her Boyfriend?

Farmer’s new song, as well as her comments about almost losing hope that she’ll find someone who’s right for her, have us wondering whether she’s still with her boyfriend. Farmer hard launched the relationship on Instagram in May.

Not much was known about her apparent boyfriend, Kendon Reed. He doesn’t appear in Farmer’s recent Instagram posts, so we’re not sure if the two are still together, or if the singer is still looking for that special someone.
