‘AGT: The Champions’ Premiere Recap

AGT: The Champions is back but with a major twist this time. Tonight’s premiere of AGT: The Champions was like watching the typical AGT talent but on major steroids. With ten incredible acts, only two moved onto the finals. For the next several weeks, some of the most famous contestants from AGT: The Champions will be back on the stage and we’ll determine who will be the ultimate champion. Tonight brought back champions from other countries, runner-ups, and one of the most recognizable names on the show’s history, Susan Boyle.

1. Bianca Ryan

It’s only appropriate that the season one winner of America’s Got Talent opened the Champions show! Bianca was only 11 years old when she won AGT during its first season. Tonight, she made her comeback as she found out years ago that she was suffering from vocal paralysis. Singing the song Say Something by A Great Big World left viewers in awe of her. Howie said it best by telling Ryan that she is a champion not only on the stage but in life.

2. The Clairvoyants 

After getting second place on their season, Thommy and Amelie have come back to take the grand prize. After asking each judge to pick out specific details of their dream date, Amelie was able to accurately predict every single detail. Later in their act, they showed a video that was filmed prior to the show that shows that she was able to make these predictions way before the act. This act was truly incredible and out of the box. Simon told them they set the standard and that their performance was beyond anything they’ve seen before.

3. Sarah and Hero

The ultimate dynamic duo of the night went to Sarah and her dog Hero. Mel B put it best when she said that this act warms viewers hearts, while Simon shared that he thought she earned a place in the finals.

4. Uzeyer Novruzov 

After one of the worst accidents in television history on season 10, Uzeyer is back on the show to retry the ladder trick that almost paralyzed him. He says that he hasn’t touched that ladder since the accident, but tonight he is back to reattempt. Simon said that he was the definition of a champion and he received a standing ovation from the audience.

5. Vicki Barbolak

Since leaving America’s Got Talent, Vicki has created quite the resume- even landing her own Vegas show. Her act makes you want to watch her all day, as Heidi mentions that she never wanted it to end.

6. Alex Magala

By far the most suspenseful act of the night was Alex, winner of Russia’s Got Talent. Alex is a sword swallower who left viewers holding their breaths during the entirety of his performance. Howie says that he just made the competition so much tougher on everyone else, while Simon says that he’s a bit confused that Alex was millimeters away from killing himself and yet it was so entertaining to keep watching.

7. Justice Crew

This dance crew were winners of Australia’s Got Talent and created a band after winning the show. Simon commented on how there were a couple of people who won the show and didn’t want to come back because they were afraid of losing. He commended them for still coming on the show despite the risk of not winning the competition.

8. Susan Boyle 

By far the most recognizable name to come from the Got Talent franchise. This was the first time that Susan would be singing in front of Simon in nine years. Simon says that he can’t think of any contestant that has defined the show more than Susan and compliments her on making a difference in people’s lives. When it’s Mel B’s chance to speak, she says that she wants to give her something and hits the golden buzzer. Susan is onto the finals!

9. Sofie Dossi

You know a contortionist is really good when they make it look easy and that’s exactly what Sofie did. At only 17 years old, she was able to bring a performance that left viewers in awe. Simon tells her that they were so happy to have her back and that this was the best performance they’ve ever seen of her.

10. Preacher Lawson

The last performance of the night was none other than Preacher Lawson. His stand-up act was absolutely hilarious as he shared the behind the scenes of what dating is like in the African American community. Mel B said that if she hadn’t already given away her golden buzzer.

With Susan Boyle moving onto the finals, viewers were ready to hear who would be the second act to follow. It was revealed that the top three votes were for Sofie Dossi (third place), Bianca Ryan (runner-up) and Preacher Lawson who earned his ticket to the finals!
