‘AGT’ Star Merrick Hanna Gets Tackled by Security During Backstage Visit

Merrick Hanna has become quite the social media sensation since his days competing on Season 12 of AGT. Merrick’s dancing skills are so good, we always wondered if he is actually half robot. He visited with his old friend Heidi Klum backstage in a video posted ahead of Tuesday’s show. What happened next was totally unexpected.
Heidi Klum Jokingly Calls For Security to Remove Merrick Hanna From the ‘AGT’ Set
In the video, Merrick reunited with Klum to do the infamous “famous friend check” tag. Instead of being welcomed with open arms back to the show, he was tackled by security. You would never expect someone with 14 million TikTok followers to be taken away by security on the AGT set.
OK, obviously this video is just a skit but we have to admit that the security guard took Merrick out pretty hard. He’s a serious champ and super committed to making all of his fans laugh with his content. He also did the “famous friend check” TikTok with Howie Mandel backstage. Mandel was definitely more receptive and freaked out over Merrick’s internet fame.
Merrick knows all about going viral ever since his AGT audition that has over 51 million views on YouTube. Simon Cowell was actually the first judge to stand up and clap after watching Merrick’s audition. He even went on to say that he wanted to put Merrick in a pop music video. Unfortunately, we did not get to see any videos just yet of Cowell reuniting with Merrick behind the scenes in 2021.
Merrick isn’t the only former AGT contestant to visit the set of Season 16. Season 11 contortionist Sofie Dossi also returned to the set this season. She challenged Terry Crews to a strength contest. Sofie is also a huge social media star with 4.1 million Instagram followers and 9.9 million followers on TikTok.
