AGT Star Ben Lapidus Releases New Single
On Tuesday, Lapidus shared with his social media followers that his new single “Less Happy More Free” was available to stream everywhere. He thanked fans for pre-saving the song and gave a shoutout to Brian Robert Jones, saying his “guitar solo is the cherry on top of this track.”
Lapidus added the hashtags #punk and #poppunk, and that’s definitely the sound this song conveys. The singer gets honest about his life, even mentioning his time on AGT and the experience of leaving his 20s behind.
“I realize now it’s possible / To be less happy and more free,” Lapidus sings on the track. “It’s been a year, I had a nervous breakdown / Went on live TV / Said sayonara to my 20s and went back to therapy.”
Later in the song, Lapidus sings that he has “a fear of going crazy and a passion for success.” At the end, he admits that “it might get worse before it gets better,” and he “might just have to live with myself.” Fans who only know him for loving parmesan might be surprised to hear this more serious style.

Lapidus Made It to the Semifinals with ‘Parmesan Cheese’
If you watched Season 17 of AGT, you’ll remember Lapidus for his now-infamous “Parmesan Cheese” song. All four judges buzzed the act, but the audience convinced three of them (Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, and Sofia Vergara) to change their minds and send the singer through.
Lapidus was then chosen by the judges to move on to the Semifinals, where he once again performed his audition song. This time, he added some rock ‘n’ roll theatrics to the performance. He received three buzzers from the judges, while Klum gave him a standing ovation.
If you want to hear more from the singer, you can stream last year’s EP Grad School, which also features “Parmesan Cheese.” Lapidus also has several other singles, including “Never Mine to Lose” and “Matter of Time.”
